We're impressed with our curriculum, now it's your turn! We hope to engage your child's sense of identity by capturing his/her imagination and attention. So, we put a lot of effort into providing our students with substantive lessons and a positive atmosphere.
The lessons are multi-sensory and hands-on, ensuring that the students truly experience what they are being taught. The lessons are structured with discussion-starters, to create a lively, interactive classroom experience. Role-playing, arts & crafts and songs are incorporated into the lessons to help make them even more enjoyable. The information truly becomes the student's own.
Our program will give your child a solid foundation in the fundamentals of Judaism and will instill in your child the faith, beauty and values of our heritage.
Our curriculum consists of the following:
· HEBREW READING - ALEPH CHAMP PROGRAM
Beginning with letter recognition for our youngest children, the Aleph Champ program leads them through phonetic decoding, reading comprehension and fluency. Based on personal learning styles and pace, student complete textbooks, workbooks and activities while receiving individual reading instruction and guidance
HEBREW PRAYER AND SYNAGOGUE LIFE
Our students gain confidence and familiarity with the Siddur-Hebrew Prayer Book, and learn basic prayers and songs, as well as understanding the various steps of the service.
·HOLIDAYS AND SHABBAT
Hands-on experiences prior to each Jewish holiday from Rosh Hashanah and the High Holidays through the holiday of Shavuot provide our students with a deeper understanding of each holiday and its traditions and customs.
“Be the best YOU” and “Kindness and Respect to ALL” are fundementals in Jewish living and the CHS.Lessons bring these ideas to life and provide students with the tools to apply them to their daily routines. They understand that our religion is based on a G‑d given set of values and morals and that the “norm” is not always in the right.
·JEWISH HISTORY & MITZVOT -JEWISH CALENDAR
The children are introduced to the characters and stories that make up our history and their story. They are given an overview of Jewish history starting with creation to the giving of the Torah to modern day Israel. Age appropriate lessons are used to provide in-depth discussions into key events and people. The“why” of Jewish tradition and mitzvoth classes teach the basic mitzvoth to younger grades and provide insightful meaning of more complex mitzvot for older grades.
Students will develop an understanding of the jewish lifecycle, and explore the various Jewish milestones in a persons life.
Our students will attain an affection for our heritage and a uniqueness of our homeland Israel
In addition to a fun filled academic curriculum we plan special programs during the year, such as Shabbat Experiences, Shofar Factory, Chanukah Festival, Purim Fun, Passover Matzah bakery, Model Seder, Lag Ba'Omer BBQ and more.
